Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was an exceptional child. However, for an Irish girl who was surrounded by gifted parents and extended family, these characteristics were a naturally. Maureen entered this caring haven on the 17th of August 1920 at Ranelagh (a suburb of Dublin), Ireland. She was the daughter of Marguerita Lililburn FitzSimons a skilled contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman from Dublin who also controlled a portion of the Irish Shamrock Rovers, a soccer club in Ireland. Maureen FitzSimons was the child of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons complete this wonderful family. Maureen enjoyed rough sports as an infant and was extremely good in them. Furthermore her talent, she also had a knack for acting. As a result, she was awarded almost all of the Feis Awards for dramatic and acting within her own country. By age 14 she was admitted to the highly acclaimed Abbey Theater and pursued her dreams of classical theatre along with operatic music.
